Why Speed Test Results Differ
Two speed tests rarely match. Throughput depends on path, Wi-Fi, VPN, and how the browser transfers data. The ToolSphere internet speed test uses public Cloudflare endpoints from your device so you can compare runs on the same method.
Bandwidth is not a single number
A plan’s advertised Mbps is a ceiling. A browser test measures one path, at one moment, through your Wi-Fi or Ethernet, possibly through a VPN, using a specific server.
Ookla, Cloudflare, and The ToolSphere will disagree because they use different hosts, file sizes, and protocols. Compare like with like: same device, same network, same tool, several runs.
What usually changes the result
These everyday conditions move the number more than which logo is on the test page:
- Wi-Fi congestion or a weak signal.
- VPN or corporate proxy adding a detour.
- Other downloads, streams, or backups on the same link.
- Browser CPU limits on large transfers.
How to use The ToolSphere tests
Run the internet speed test two or three times, then a ping test. High bandwidth with high ping is common. If Ethernet is stable and Wi-Fi is not, the radio path is the likely issue—not your ISP plan alone.
