This calculator does not decide what anyone should tip; it applies the percentage you select to the amount you enter.

The tool includes common percentage presets and accepts a custom tip percentage. It also accepts the number of people sharing the payment. Results include the total tip, bill plus tip, total per person, and tip per person. Amounts are displayed to two decimal places, which is practical for currency, although the calculator does not attach or convert a currency.

Mental tip math can be inconvenient when a bill has decimals or several people are splitting it. A calculator gives everyone the same transparent starting point and avoids accidentally dividing the bill but not the gratuity. It can also help you compare two percentages before deciding which amount fits the service and your budget.

The result is especially helpful when the group intends to divide everything equally. If people ordered substantially different amounts, calculate separate subtotals instead because this tool only produces an equal split.

Enter the amount that you want to use as the tipping base. Choose a preset or type a nonnegative percentage, then enter at least one person. The calculator multiplies the bill by the percentage written as a decimal, adds that tip to the bill, and divides the totals by the whole-number group size.

The people value is treated as a count: the calculation uses its integer portion and never uses fewer than one person. For predictable results, enter a whole number. Whether your tipping base includes tax is entirely determined by the bill amount you enter.

Tip is the gratuity for the whole group. Total is the entered bill plus that gratuity. Per person is an equal share of the full total, while tip per person isolates each person's equal share of the gratuity. For example, a total per person of 52.50 includes both food or service charges and tip; it is not an additional amount on top of the displayed total.

Small rounding differences can occur when a total cannot be divided evenly into cents. The displayed shares are rounded independently to two decimals, so multiplying the displayed per-person amount by the group size may differ from the displayed total by a cent or two.

A clear calculation makes a shared payment easier to discuss and reduces arithmetic errors under time pressure. It also lets you distinguish the service tip from fees, taxes, and other charges shown on a receipt.

Tipping practices vary by location, service, and personal preference. The calculator supplies arithmetic only. It does not know local customs, whether a service charge is already included, or how a business distributes gratuities.

The percentage is divided by 100 before multiplication. The resulting tip and total are rounded to two decimal places. Per-person values are calculated from those totals and rounded to two decimals. A negative bill, negative percentage, or group size below one produces no result.
