How Does This Tool Work?

In text-to-binary mode, each iterated character contributes its first UTF-16 code unit. That integer is converted with base 2 and padded on the left until it has at least eight digits. Padding never truncates a longer value. Groups are joined with one space.

In binary-to-text mode, trimmed input is split on whitespace. Every group must contain only 0 and 1 or the function throws an invalid-input error. Each group is parsed as one integer and passed to `String.fromCharCode`, which retains a UTF-16 code unit value. Group width is not validated.

Understanding Your Results

ASCII from U+0000 through U+007F generally round-trips as expected. Values through U+00FF fit within eight bits. Characters above 255 need more than eight binary digits in this implementation. Emoji and other supplementary code points cannot be reliably encoded because only the leading surrogate is emitted.

This output must not be labeled UTF-8. UTF-8 encodes Unicode scalar values into one to four bytes with specific byte patterns. The tool instead exposes JavaScript UTF-16 behavior through integer strings.
